This post first appeared over at HSN’s The Buzz where I am a contributor. Learn how to transform a simple pillow into custom Valentine’s Day home decor using some glitter iron-on and your Cricut EasyPress!
If you are looking around your living room this year, wishing you had some new pillows, then you are not alone!
As much as I love modern throw pillows, decorative pillow covers, and accent pillows, the truth is they are all EXPENSIVE! Plus, if you are wanting something specific for the holidays (like Valentine’s Day) it seems like the pillows cost even more money (lol).
So, in an effort to save money, I decided to come up with a more affordable way to feed my pillow addition!
VALENTINE’S DAY PILLOW
I give you my 10 minute no-sew DIY Valentines Day Pillow!
Yes, I said 10 minutes and no-sew in the same sentence!
With my Cricut machine and some glitter iron-on, I created my own custom Valentine pillow in just a few minutes! This project was so easy to create and fun to do, that I already have tons of decorative pillows planned for my future (lol). However, if you are still not convinced, let me explain why this is my FAVORITE project this month.
To begin with, this project uses supplies you already have (which is always a win). I used a multicolored pillow that I had on hand, but you could use whatever you wanted to upcycle. For instance, think of those neutral pillows in your family room that may need a pop of color or those outdoor pillows that could use a bit of love.
Second, this project is customizable! I upcycle my pillow for Valentine’s Day, but you could recreate this project for any holiday or season. Also, since we were talking about supplies before, you could use different sizes of pillows or colors of iron-on vinyl when creating your own pillow. Cricut has a wide variety of iron-on vinyl in both solid colors and neutral colors, so I highly recommend you check out their website to see their full range of colors.
If I still haven’t convinced you, then keep reading below to see how easy it is to create (in my opinion) the best throw pillows that you will ever own! {FTC disclaimer – this post contains affiliate links which means I may make a small commission on items purchased – at no additional cost to you!}

HOW TO MAKE VALENTINE’S DAY PILLOW:
In Cricut Design Space click on the shapes button and click on the heart shape.
Size your heart based on the size of the pillow, and cut with your Cricut. *Don’t forget when using iron-on to “mirror” the image and put your iron-on shiny side down on your mat!*
Peel off the excess iron-on and lay your heart on to the pillow with the shiny side facing up.
Use your EasyPress to adhere your heart to the pillow. Since this pillow is already filled (not a pillow cover) be sure to press down firmly.
If your iron-on is a larger size (like mine was) start on one corner of the heart and then move the EasyPress to a different corner until you have adhered the entire iron-on. It is ok if parts of the iron-on get “heated” multiple times.
Let cool for about 30 seconds, peel off the clear film, and admire your gorgeous pillow!
You will notice that in these photos, I displayed my Valentine’s Day pillow inside my home. This is because I wanted it to be an accent piece in my living room. However, depending on what type of iron-on you are using, you could display your pillow outside!
For instance, you could make these custom pillows for your outdoor sectionals or outdoor lounge chairs!
You know what is better than finished photos? Behind the scenes photos! I wanted to take some photos on our tan couch and our great dane Baloo was NOT having it.
He wasn’t even supposed to be in the photo – he just came over to let me know he thought it was time for snacks. His face tells you how he feels about photo shoots!
Finally got my photo though!
