Whether you’re celebrating the change of seasons (yay!) or mourning the free wheelin’ days of summer (boo!) – if you are having one last summer get together then this quick and easy paper straw DIY will be the perfect addition to your table!
supplies needed:
- Cricut Explore Air
- Cricut Midnight Fine Point Pen
- assorted paper straws
- plain white 12×12 cardstock
- coordinating spray mists – I used Maya Road Mist Sunflower Yellow and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Mallard
- Xyron 3″ Sticker Maker or 1.5″ Create-A-Sticker
how to make paper straws:
One of the MANY things I love about the family of Cricut Explore machines is the ability to share projects! If you’ve already got a Cricut Explore* then click here for the so long summer flags cut file! So easy!
*No Cricut? No problem! Use your manual or electronic die cutting machine to create these pennant shapes and stamp your sentiment on the far right side of the pennant.
You can fit 28 of these flags on to just one sheet of 12×12 white cardstock (just type in 28 to the Project Copies box and click APPLY) – and since the Cricut Explore Air has the ability to draw AND cut at the same time once you insert the cardstock/pen and press go you can grab a cup of coffee or work on something else while the Cricut does everything for you!
Once the drawing/cutting is complete (and with your flags still on the mat) mist your cardstock with as little or as much ink as you’d like. Let dry. *Quick note here – yes…I got mist on my mat. 😉 The photo below is what the mat looked like after I’d pulled off the excess paper.
Remove flags from mat and run through your Xyron 3″ or 1.5″ Sticker Maker.
Peel the flags from the backing and wrap around the paper straws – and voila! Choose whatever colors you’d like to match your theme or party decor!
