PUMPKIN CRAFT IDEAS: GLOW IN THE DARK PAINT
Plaid Crafts has an entire collection of gorgeous bright Folk Art Glow-in-the-Dark Acrylic Paints in all of our favorite neon Halloween colors. Because I wanted to keep these pumpkins up throughout the Fall season I used the Neutral Glow on pumpkins that were already the color I wanted (the teal and the orange), then I painted a white pumpkin to match the rest of my decor. It is the ultimate in customization!
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- carve-able/paintable pumpkins
- Plaid Crafts Folk Art Glow-in-the-Dark Acrylic Paints (I used Neutral Glow but they are available in a variety of colors
- paintbrushes
- coordinating Plaid Crafts Folk Art acrylic paints (if desired)
TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE GLOW IN THE DARK PUMPKINS
To paint pre-colored pumpkins simply add a coat of Plaid Crafts Folk Art Glow-in-the-dark Acrylic Paint in Neutral Glow to pumpkin and let dry. You will need to apply several coats and let dry in between. The more coats you apply the greater the glow!
To customize any pumpkin to match your decor, paint the pumpkin first with a coordinating acrylic paint and let dry, then repeat steps above.
Want to take it to the next level? Add a pattern or stencil to your pumpkin for a cool “negative” effect
- I used Cricut removable vinyl (pattern doesn’t matter since you are going to peel it off) to cut my shape, but you could use thin paper or a stencil.
Apply to pumpkin – use scraper to make sure pattern is adhered well to the surface.
Use dauber to apply Neutral Glow paint around pattern. Let dry and repeat.
