As much as I love a good alcoholic beverage during the holiday season, sometimes, you just want to make one simple recipe that the entire family can enjoy. So, in honor of the harvest season, today I will be showing you my favorite crockpot mulled apple cider recipe!
NON-ALCOHOLIC APPLE CIDER
There are so many things that I love about making apple cider recipes (in general) during this time of year! One is that it makes the whole house smell like the Fall season, and two, I have tons of options when it comes to how I want to make my own apple cider drinks. For instance, I can make alcoholic cocktails like an apple cider sangria or I can make non-alcoholic drinks like apple cider mocktails.
Needless to say, the possibilities are endless when it comes to creating apple cider drinks (don’t even get me started on hot cider verus cold cider)!
As I mentioned above, today I will be sharing my easy hot apple cider recipe which is a non-alcoholic drink. This drink has a crisp taste, uses simple ingredients, and would go perfectly with some apple cider donuts. Plus, there is no need to worry about who gets ahold of this hot mulled cider, because both kids and adults can drink it!
INGREDIENTS:
- 8 cups fresh apple cider
- 1 1/2” fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
- 1 orange, sliced
- 6 cinnamon sticks
- 1 Tablespoon whole cloves
- 5 Star Anise
- 2 whole nutmeg, optional
Note: I found the apple cider sweet enough on it’s own, but you can optionally add 1/4 cup brown sugar or honey.
HOW TO MAKE CROCKPOT MULLED APPLE CIDER:
1. Place all ingredients in a slow cooker.
NOTE: You can also use a crock pot if you don’t have a slow cooker.
2. Set to low for 3-4 hours.
3. Strain out the spices, if desired.
4. Serve with fresh cinnamon sticks, slices of apple and orange slices.
NOTE: Make sure you use a heat-proof pitcher if you plan on not serving the drinks from the slow cooker.
Do you know what goes well with homemade apple cider? A day of pumpkin picking, hayrides, or just some fall decor shopping! This drink is truly the perfect way to unwind after a busy fall day.
However, if you still have ”hard cider” on the brain, you could make an alcoholic version of this recipe by adding/swapping out a few ingredients!
