Cricut Jewelry Necklace DIY – Perfect For Beginners

CRICUT JEWELRY NECKLACE DIY:

One of the things I love about creating with Cricut Design Space is that you are NEVER limited by color, size, or material. Your only limit is your imagination!

Back in the day, Cricut was popular with cardmakers and scrapbookers…but today, designers, DIYers, and artists have realized the possibilities of the Cricut machine and are creating home decor projects, fashion, party invitations, and more – including jewelry! Today I’ve got a fun, fast, and easy jewelry project that would be a great gift for your mom, best friend, or that special person in your life. This project creates two necklaces, so it’s the perfect way to gift one and keep the other one for yourself! 

MAKING JEWELRY WITH CRICUT:

PS – Have I mentioned how intricately the Explore cuts? The new German Carbide Premium Blade that is included with every Explore machine will rock your world. Look at this! I cut at least a dozen sets of these phrases, and each and every one cut out perfectly and came off the mat like butter. Mmmm…butter.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

• Cricut Explore Air and Design Space software – You could also make this on a Cricut Maker Machine.
• 12×12 Standard or LightGrip mat
• Basic Tool Set (optional)
• Two 1″ square metal pendant trays
• Patterned paper for background
• Scrap of cardstock or patterned paper for phrases
• Trimmer or 1″ square punch
• Xyron Sticker Maker or other dry adhesive
• Glossy Accents or other clear liquid dimensional adhesive

NOTE: Remember that you can create this Cricut jewelry necklace DIY in any color scheme you’d like! Today, I am using black and floral pattern scrapbook paper, but you can make these necklaces using whatever paper you have on hand. My only suggestion would be to choose two papers that coordinate well together, so you can read the ”I am Loved” text.

HOW TO MAKE LOVED JEWELRY CHARMS:

CUTTING

1. Head on over to Cricut Design Space and select the Loved Jewelry Charms Make It Now project. Select the customize button to cut only one of the phrases, or to change the size for larger or smaller pendant trays – otherwise, select the Make It Now button. Follow the instructions in Cricut Design Space to cut the loved phrases from your patterned paper or cardstock.

NOTE: Depending on the type of paper or cardstock you are using (regular, glitter, etc.), you may need to adjust your material setting on your Cricut machine.

ADHESIVE

2. Punch or cut two 1″ squares from the patterned paper. Run both squares and both phrases through the sticker maker. 

NOTE: If you don’t have a 1” square punch, you can cut out a 1” square with a pair of scissors instead.

DECORATING PENDANT TRAY

3. Adhere the patterned paper to the pendant tray, then use the tweezers from the Tools Set to place and adhere the phrase to the patterned paper.

DIMENSIONAL ADHESIVE

4. Fill the pendant tray with dimensional adhesive and lay it flat to dry. 

NOTE: When doing this step, make sure you 1) follow the directions on the bottle of clear liquid dimensional adhesive you are using, 2) go slow, and 3) take your time. This is because you don’t want to rush this step, because the dimensional adhesive may dry unevenly or with air bubbles.

Once your pendant is dry, you are ready to add it to the necklace chain and either gift it or keep it for yourself!

Final Thoughts On Cricut Jewelry Necklace DIY:

Who knew that making your own jewelry (or jewelry for a friend) could be so much fun?! 

This is the easiest way I have found to make jewelry with your Cricut that doesn’t involve a ton of work, supplies, or tools. Plus, it’s the perfect project for beginners who are working on building their Cricut skills a little bit at a time!

Now, you might have noticed that one of the necklaces has some extra beads (the orange bead and blue flower). To add those to my necklace, all I did was feed some flat-head pins through the beads, twist the top of the wire to create a loop, and add a jump ring. Then, before I closed the jump ring, I attached the beads to my necklace chain and closed the jump ring.

Adding beads and charms is optional, but it does add a special touch. Especially if you are giving the necklace as a gift! Speaking of gifts, Mother’s Day is just a few days away, and this would make a great last-minute gift (and is fun to make with the kiddos).

With wedding season upon us, these would also be PERFECT for creating custom confetti! The confetti could be used to decorate tables or be included in favor bags or invitations. To make confetti, simply change the number of project copies on the mat screen. You can fit 55 sets on one piece of 12×12 paper!

OK, LET’S TALK OR NOT TALK ABOUT FEELINGS – LOL:

People who know me will be surprised that I came up with this project, since I am NOTORIOUS for having a hard time sharing my feelings. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve cried in public (and I’m not much better at home), and looking someone in the eye and talking about emotions literally makes my stomach ache. So when the six of us arrived at the studio for filming, and the Cricut team surprised us by having us do just that – I felt anxiety. I’m not gonna lie.

But what I felt afterwards? Pure and total joy. To be in a room with women I adore and admire and am inspired by, to spend time sharing our favorite stories about each other and lifting one another up, to know that these women and this company support me as much as I do them – that is an INCREDIBLE gift. Anna, Amber, Kim, Mandi, and Lia (who I almost hit in the face about five times in the video with my giant flailing arms and hands!) are my people. #luckiestgirlintheworld indeed.
