CREATE CUSTOM CONTAINERS FOR YOUR DESSERT BUFFET OR CANDY TABLE
Dessert buffets are the hit of any event – and thanks to candy and frosting being available in every imaginable color it is easy to create a dessert buffet to match any theme. The trickiest part of arranging these fun tables is finding the containers to put everything in! Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite shopping spots and how to make your table look cohesive thanks to a bottle of Plaid Crafts FolkArt Brushed Metal Acrylic Paint.
USE PLAID CRAFTS PAINT TO CUSTOMIZE DESSERT BUFFET OR CANDY TABLE
I searched high and low for a loooooooooong time to find a gold paint that had good coverage and looked “real”. They were either too sparkly or too sheer or too brassy…and then Plaid Crafts FolkArt Brushed Metal Acrylic Paint came in to my life! It comes in 10 colors (which is an AMAZING array of choices for metallic), it has a beautiful matte finish, brushes on easily and can even be used for outdoor projects. It’s even made here in the USA! What more could I possibly want!
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- assorted jars and plates (see below for shopping tips!)
- Plaid Crafts FolkArt Brushed Metal Acrylic Paint – I used Antique Gold
- assorted Plaid Crafts FolkArt Acrylic Paints if additional colors desired
- paint brushes (I used Plaid Crafts Color By Me Artist Brushes)
- washi tape and/or masking tape
- assorted candy and desserts
HOW TO MAKE CUSTOM CONTAINERS FOR YOUR DESSERT BUFFET
1. Collect an assortment of inexpensive jars and containers. I ordered two different types of bulk plastic cupcake holders from Oriental Trading, then headed to Goodwill and bought a variety of jars and glasses in different shapes, heights and sizes. I got two dozen cupcake stands, seven glasses and two jars for less than $40. As an added plus Oriental Trading also sells color coordinated/themed candy!
2. Tape off areas of glass/plastic you want to paint. Use washi tape for more intricate/curved shapes, you can use masking tape when trying to cover bigger areas.
3. Gently sand glassware/plasticware where you are going to paint.
4. Cover surface with Brushed Metal paint. You will need to do a few layers so don’t worry if you don’t have full coverage. Let dry and repeat.
TIP: Paint the underside of any plastic/glass container that is going to come in contact with food.
5. When paint is dry and you are satisfied with the coverage, remove washi/masking tape.
6. Fill with candy and delicious desserts and wow your guests!
CREATE A CUSTOM DESSERT BUFFET OR CANDY TABLE IN ANY THEME
You don’t just have to use Brushed Metal paint to achieve this fun look – I used FolkArt Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint in Baby Pink (love these color coordinated collections on Amazon!) to add some extra color to the table. Plaid Crafts makes so many different colors this could be done for absolutely any theme or occasion!
If you love a little glam in your life grab a bottle of Plaid Crafts FolkArt Brushed Metal Acrylic Paint and have at it! From party ware to home décor to jewelry to craft projects and more…the possibilities are endless. I can’t wait to see what you create! Want to see even more great ideas from Plaid Crafts?
