Nothing says Spring is coming like the riot of colors you can find in the floral section of the craft store – today I’m making an easy Spring wreath that is will be perfect for your front door or front porch!
I don’t know if I have said this before, but I LOVE seasonal wreaths! My love for wreaths goes way beyond the Christmas season, and you can see evidence of that here on the blog (lol).
So, in the effort to provide you guys with all types of wreath DIY ideas, I have another festive wreath project that is perfect for this Spring season!
EASY SPRING WREATH: FRONT DOOR DECOR
Spring is the perfect time of year to not only craft but to do a little bit of decluttering.
For instance, I am a fabric hoarder and proud of it! There are so many amazing colors, and patterns and the possibilities for creating gorgeous projects are endless. However, I’m still new to sewing, so my fabric stash is growing at a faster rate than my skill levels are for sewing.
So, to solve this problem, I decided that the best option would be to put down my sewing machine and to pick up my Cricut Rotary Cutter, Cutting Ruler, and Self Healing Mat. This is because cutting and gluing fabric together is so much easier than sewing in a straight line! Also, I needed a new lovely spring wreath for my front door, so it seemed like a win-win all the way around!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- Self Healing Mat
- Rotary Cutter
- Cutting Ruler
- Cricut EasyPress and Mat or iron
- fabric
- foam wreath
- liquid glue
- scissors
- hot glue gun
- faux flowers
- wire cutter
- fishing line
- faux greenery wreath (optional)
Ordering from cricut.com? Use code CRICUTCREATORS10 for 10% off and FREE shipping on any order over $50. Includes sale and clearance prices, does not include machines (anything with a plug). Cricut items can also be found at HSN, Amazon, and JOANN stores.
Project Notes:
- In regards to wreath forms, I recommend using a foam wreath and NOT a wire wreath form for this project. This is because your wreath base needs to be ”solid and wide” so the fabric can wrap around it easier. Also, I would stay away from embroidery hoops as well.
- I used faux flowers in the project, but depending on the season, you could easily incorporate items like red berries, faux lemons, or cinnamon sticks into your wreath design instead!
HOW TO MAKE AN EASY SPRING WREATH:
1. Select your fabric and remove creases with Cricut EasyPress or iron. I started using my EasyPress for my regular ironing and have never looked back (you can find out why I love it here)!
Tip: If you have stubborn creases that won’t come out, lay a damp washcloth on the affected area for a few minutes, remove and press/iron. Voila!
2. Gently fold your fabric in half, then in half again. Determine how wide you want to have your strips (I chose 2″) and line your fabric up with the grid on the Self Healing Mat. Use your Cutting Ruler to give you a straight edge, then use your Rotary Cutter to cut your strips.
3. Use liquid glue to adhere first strip to the back of the wreath. Wrap the strip around the wreath as many times as you can.
4. Once you come to the end of the strip, adhere to the back of the wreath (you may have to trim off the excess). Repeat until the wreath is covered.
5. Trim the faux flower stems with your wire cutter. Cut them as close to the base of the flower as you can.
6. Loosely arrange the flowers around your wreath to give you an idea of the finished project – then use a hot glue gun to adhere them.
7. Wrap fishing line around the wreath and hang. Want to add some extra color to your wreath? I layered the wreath on top of another wreath and tied them together with fishing line.
Tip: Depending on your preference and front door, you have several options for hanging your wreath! Besides using fishing line, you could also use Command Strips, a door hanger, or wreath hangers. Also, here’s my secret for hanging something on your front door!
