Easy Paper Plate Daffodils Craft With Free Template

Use a paper plate, yellow paint, and cupcake liners to create these adorable paper plate daffodils that are perfect for kids of all ages!

Today, we are breaking out the paper plates again to make a fun paper plate daffodil. This craft is the perfect way to bring a little spring into your home, but it also makes for a great Mother’s Day craft! In the tutorial below, I only show two daffodils, but your kids could easily make a daffodil bouquet to give to Mom or Grandma. Then, once you have your bouquet, you can add it to our cute flower vase for an instant gift! – How cute would that be?! 

As always with our paper plate crafts, this one can be made in 30 minutes, is perfect for your little ones to practice their fine motor skills, and includes a FREE printable template! So, grab some paper plates and let’s make this gorgeous daffodil craft!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: 

• Paper Plates
• Jumbo Craft Sticks
• Acrylic Craft Paint – Bright Yellow, Bright Green
• Cupcake Liners, White
• Pom Poms, Yellows
• Cardstock – Bright Green, Medium Green
• Paintbrush
• Scissors 
• Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
• Pencil
• Daffodils Pattern (you can download it below)

NOTE: When it comes to making this project, you have several options when it comes to plates and sizes. I used a regular-sized paper plate (9 inches in diameter), but you could use a small paper plate for this project. Also, if you don’t have yellow paint or don’t have time to paint, you can use yellow paper plates instead.

SAFETY GUIDELINES: Regardless of your child’s abilities or age, adult supervision is always required. This is because this paper plate craft involves cutting, painting, and gluing the paper plate.

HOW TO MAKE PAPER PLATE DAFFODILS: 

1. Gather all supplies. Basecoat the inside of two paper plates with yellow acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.

2. Download and print the daffodil patterns, then cut them out with scissors. Trace the daffodil flower shape onto both paper plates with a pencil.

3. Cut out the daffodils with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.

4. Attach a white cupcake liner to the center of each daffodil with a glue gun and glue sticks.

TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

5. Glue five to six assorted yellow pom poms in the center of each of the cupcake liners.

6. For both daffodils, attach two jumbo craft sticks (end to end) with a glue gun and glue sticks. These will become the daffodil stems.

7. Basecoat the daffodil stems with bright green acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

8. Flip the daffodil flowers over on your work surface and attach the stems with a glue gun and glue sticks.

9. Trace the leaf twice onto bright green cardstock and twice onto medium green cardstock with a pencil. Cut out the leaves with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.

NOTE: You could use green paper (if you don’t have green cardstock), colored craft foam, or craft felt for this project as well.

10. To finish, attach one bright green leaf and one medium green leaf to the daffodil stem with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Once you’re happy with the look of your daffodils, you are ready to display them or gift them!

As much as someone might love real daffodil flowers, giving handmade paper daffodils is so much more meaningful and special! Also, it’s a fun way to give someone flowers because they can display them, keep them forever, and not have to worry about watering them. – LOL
