I am a gift “hoarder” – meaning I will find inexpensive gift ideas throughout the year and hoard them in my closet until I find the perfect occasion/person for it. Thanks to my Cricut Explore Air I can customize almost anything in just a few minutes.
I found these tea towels on clearance at Jo-Ann and knew immediately they would be the perfect summer hostess gift! {FTC disclaimer: this post contains affiliate links which means I might make a little money if you buy something.}
EASY MONOGRAMMED TEA TOWELS
A few tips about monograms:
Single letter monograms take just a few minutes (literally!) – the hardest part is deciding on your font!
Monograms are also a great way to use your scraps…I used scraps of Cricut Iron-on Lite in Pink and Glitter Iron-on in Kelly for my monograms.
I was able to use the same mat for both monogram cuts because you can move items on your mat prior to cutting in Design Space (see below – I moved my “K” all the way to the right side of the mat in Design Space before I hit continue to cut). I didn’t have to look for a second mat or remove the first monogram before I cut the second one. Time saver!
Last but not least – when using iron-on DO NOT forget to click the “mirror” tab on the left side of the screen before cutting!
And voila! In just a few minutes you’ve got fun custom gifts that would be perfect for any occasion.
Easy Customized Hostess Gifts – Monogrammed Tea Towels
Materials
- Cricut Explore Air
- Cricut 12×24 Cutting Mat
- Cricut Iron-on Lite
- Tea towels
- Iron
Instructions
- To begin making your monograms, first, lay your scraps of Cricut Iron-on Lite onto your Cricut mat. Then load the mat into your Cricut machine. For this project, I was able to use the same mat for both monogram cuts because you can move items on your mat prior to cutting in Design Space (see below – I moved my "K" all the way to the right side of the mat in Design Space before I hit continue to cut). By doing this, I didn't have to look for a second mat or remove the first monogram before I cut the second one. Time saver!
- Now, go into Design Space, find a front for your chosen monogram and cut. However, while you are in Design Space, DO NOT forget to click the "mirror" tab on the left side of the screen before cutting! This is important because, in order for the iron-on monogram to look correct, it has to be ''mirrored'' when being cut.
- When your monograms have been cut out, you are now ready to iron them onto your tea towels!
