Easy Campfire Dessert: DIY S’mores Board
You had me at chocolate, peanut butter and marshmallows! We are lucky enough to have a firepit in our yard and spend LOTS of time there this time of year, but for those of you getting out to enjoy the great outdoors this is a great portable campfire dessert!
Think outside the box (get it…graham crackers come in a box…I crack myself up!!) when coming up with board ideas. Halloween candy, girl scout cookies, different nut butters, fruits – let the kids help pick the ingredients for a fun family activity! The quantities below will serve 4-6.
Ingredients:
- 1 box of graham crackers – you will not place them all on the board, just keep them handy to add more when they run out.
- 6 large strawberries
- bag of large marshmallows
- Lindt milk chocolate bar
- Jar of peanut butter
- 4 Reese’s cups
- 4 Peppermint Patties
- 2 Hershey’s Cookies and Cream Bars
- 4 White chocolate truffles (any flavor)
- 3 Hershey’s Chocolate Bars
- Ghirardelli sea salt and chocolate bar
- Jar of Nutella
HOW TO MAKE DIY S’mores Board:
Step 1: Pick a flat surface to create your s
Step 2: Place your bowls of peanut butter and Nutella on the board first. Since these items are a bit bigger, you want to work around them. Keep in mind you can move stuff as you work – there is no wrong way to build this board.
Step 3: Sporadically place graham crackers in stacks around the board. It will look nice if you have stuff spread out and not all in one area. This also allows easy access for people working around the board.
Step 4: You will want to start placing the large chocolate pieces first , followed by individual chocolate pieces. For this recipe, I placed one an entire Lindt milk chocolate candy bar on the board, stacked two Hershey’s cookies and cream bars, and split the other milk chocolate bars in half.
Step 5: Next you will fill in the blank areas with smaller chocolates like Reese’s, Peppermint Patties, truffles, Almond Joy bars, strawberries, and marshmallows.
Step 6: Look at your board for empty spots and try and fill them in (for presentation) with marshmallows and smaller chocolates. You can stack things, but not too high unless you are feeding a lot of people.
Serve and enjoy!
