Looking for a quick and easy (and inexpensive!) way to add color to your dinner table? Then grab some kids’ craft supplies and let’s make some DIY napkin rings!
DIY NAPKIN RINGS
Soooo…I didn’t do much pre-planning for Easter because I didn’t want to get my hopes up. I know I can’t be alone! But when we realized we would actually be able to host a small get-together my craftiness went into overdrive and I focused on updating my table decor with some simple napkin rings!
EASY DIY NAPKIN RINGS
Now, in my crafty opinion, the quickest way to update your table setting for any dinner party or special event is to create your own napkin rings!
I am no stranger to DIY napkin rings and have made them before here on my blog. For instance, I made this set of burlap napkin rings from cardboard tubes for our thanksgiving table last year. However, this year, I wanted to come up with a DIY napkin ring idea that used my craft stash, had a unique look, and could ultimately be an easy tutorial to share with you guys!
With that all in mind, I grabbed some wooden beans and pipe cleaners and in just a few minutes was able to create my own DIY beaded napkin ring!
These beaded napkin rings will make the perfect addition to your dining table decor because they can be customized by using different colors of beads to represent other seasons or holidays. Imagine creating an ombre of orange napkin rings for the fall season or creating red and green napkin rings for your Christmas dinner!
Plus, the best part, is that this is the perfect project to make with your kids! This is because the project doesn’t require supplies like hot glue and it can be completed in 5 simple steps!
I can barely contain my excitement, so keep reading below to see the easy steps for making your own gorgeous napkin rings! {FTC Disclosure: this post contains affiliate links which means I may make a small commission on any sales at no additional cost to you.}
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- pipe cleaners (white or in colors to match your beads)

TUTORIAL: DIY NAPKIN RING
1. Count out 20 beads of one color and string them onto a pipe cleaner.
2. Separate three end beads a little bit from the rest and feed the opposite end of the pipe cleaner back through the center of the three beads from the outside, in.
3. Pull both ends of the pipe cleaner at the same time to tighten up the beaded loop.
4. Cut off leftover ends and tuck into bead center holes if needed.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 with three more bead colors of your choice.
Stack 4 rings around a napkin and voila, a napkin ring!
TIP: When stacking your beaded rings, you may want to assign a color or color pattern to each family member coming to dinner. By doing this, your napkin rings can also act as ”place cards” for your guest!
A FEW MORE TIPS ON CREATING THE PERFECT NAPKIN RINGS
As I mentioned in the beginning, I wanted to use my craft stash for this project. However, if you don’t have certain items on hand, you can easily find what you need at your local craft store or Dollar Tree. Also, you can customize this project using different materials depending on the look you are trying to achieve.
For example, you could add wooden tags, polymer clay charms, or even small faux flowers to create some cute DIY napkin rings.
The possibilities are endless, which is why making beautiful napkin rings will always be one of my favorite projects!
