Looking for easy (and last minute) Cricut Christmas ideas? Grab a piece of foil board and let’s make a star gift box!
CRICUT CHRISTMAS IDEAS: STAR GIFT BOX
I call this star box a two-fer. You can use it as home decor or as a gift box – and the hardest part is choosing the color foil board to use! Note: this project can be created with both the Cricut Maker and the family of Cricut Explore machines. The Scoring Stylus works in both! If you choose the Scoring Wheel that can ONLY be used in the Maker. {This post contains affiliate links which means I may make a commission on any items purchased – at no additional cost to you!}
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- Star Box Template in Design Space #MFA9E217

- Cricut Scoring Stylus (works in either machine) or Scoring Wheel (works in Maker only)

Cutting
1. With the machine set to Cricut Maker, select “Make It” in Design Space.
2. Set material type to Foil Kraft Board, Holographic.
3. Place the first sheet of kraft board onto the mat. Each star gift box uses two sheets of 12”x12” kraft board.
4. Follow prompts for loading kraft board into Cricut Maker. Insert the scoring tool as instruction and proceed.
5. Switch to a fine point blade to complete the cut. When the cut is complete, unload the mat from the machine.
6. Remove the cut pieces from the cutting mat and put aside.
7. Repeat for the remaining patterns and sheets of kraft board.
Assembling the Star Gift Box
1. Preheat a hot glue gun.
2. Fold the pieces along the score lines of the rectangular shape next to the star cutouts towards the back (with wrong sides together).
3. Fold the score lines along the smaller tabs inwards (with wrong sides together) for all remaining score lines except for one (see step 4).
4. Next, fold the one smaller tab (along the bottom of the larger gift box piece) outwards (with right sides together).
Below is what your boxes should like after completing steps 2, 3 and 4.
Before: Star Boxes Not Folded
After: Star Box Folded (side 1)
After: Star Box Folded (side 2)
5. Working one tab at a time and quickly since hot glue dries fast, apply a bead of glue along the tab adjacent to the star and press it in place tucking it behind the star.
6. Repeat with the other tab forming the box behind the star.
7. Glue the bottom tab in place securing the box shape in place.
8. Join the two pieces together by gluing the tabs from the larger piece to the smaller piece behind the star cutout.
9. Glue the tabs along on the side rectangular shapes together to complete the gift box.
10. Repeat these steps for making as many star gift boxes as needed.
